Creator House & Battlegrounds

Team Diverge

A complete Fortnite ecosystem built for JuJu Smith-Schuster's gaming collective, featuring three distinct experiences: a branded Creator House hub, an innovative rotating-map Red vs. Blue mode, and a full Cyberpunk Bedwars game, plus an ongoing tournaments and live events program.

Overview

Team Diverge is a gaming collective founded by JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Super Bowl-winning NFL wide receiver and cultural icon who has spent years living at the intersection of sports, gaming, and entertainment. Team Diverge brings together athletes, content creators, and competitive gamers under a shared brand built around the ethos of breaking boundaries between sports culture and the gaming world.

Command Line partnered with Team Diverge to build a complete Fortnite ecosystem: three distinct experiences, a branded community hub, an innovative competitive Red vs. Blue mode, and a full Cyberpunk Bedwars game, along with an ongoing tournaments and live events program. Together they give the Team Diverge community a permanent, multi-layered home inside one of the most popular games on the planet.

The Challenge

JuJu Smith-Schuster and Team Diverge had a massive, cross-platform fanbase spanning football fans, gaming communities, and pop culture enthusiasts, but no dedicated space where all of those audiences could come together and interact.

The ask was to build more than a Fortnite map. Team Diverge needed a true community ecosystem: a place fans could explore and connect with the brand, game modes with genuine depth and replayability to keep the community coming back, and a live events program that gave everyone structured reasons to show up. Each experience also needed its own distinct creative identity, something that could stand alone while feeling part of a coherent Team Diverge world.

The Experiences

Command Line delivered three fully realised Fortnite worlds for Team Diverge:

The Team Diverge Creator House

The hub is a faithful Fortnite recreation of the Team Diverge Creator House, the real-world home base of the collective. Players walk through the space and discover details about each Team Diverge member: who they are, what they play, and what makes them part of the brand. It's designed as an interactive introduction to Team Diverge's world, letting fans feel like they're stepping inside the lives of their favourite creators and athletes rather than just watching from the outside.

Red vs. Blue: Rotating Map Game Mode

The Red vs. Blue experience is built around a core innovation: the map itself changes. Rather than a static arena, the environment rotates and evolves as matches progress, keeping both teams on their toes so that no two games play out the same way. New zones open, sightlines shift, and the balance of the map dynamically updates to reward adaptation over muscle memory.

The rotating map mechanic was designed to solve one of competitive Fortnite's biggest challenges: staleness. By making the environment an active variable rather than a fixed backdrop, the mode creates a constantly fresh competitive experience where reading the map is as important as mechanical skill. It's the kind of design that keeps high-level players engaged for hundreds of matches while remaining accessible enough for casual fans jumping in for the first time.

Cyberpunk Bedwars

The Bedwars game is set in a fully original cyberpunk world, a neon-lit, high-tech environment built from the ground up to feel unlike anything else in Fortnite Creative. The cyberpunk setting was chosen deliberately: its visual language of glowing cities, corporate dystopia, and high-stakes survival maps perfectly onto the Bedwars format, where protecting your base while pushing to destroy others creates exactly the kind of tense, layered competition the aesthetic demands.

The world design goes well beyond a re-skin. Every structural element, point of interest, and environmental detail was built to serve the cyberpunk narrative, creating a game world that feels lived-in and purposeful rather than a Bedwars template dropped into a new coat of paint. The result is a game mode that pulls players into its world as much as its mechanics.

Tournaments & Live Events

Command Line organised and ran tournaments and community events across all three Fortnite experiences, turning the maps into a live programming platform for Team Diverge. These events gave the community structured competitive moments to rally around, driving repeat visits, content creation, and sustained social conversation around the brand well beyond the initial launch window.

Impact

  • Brand Immersion: The Creator House hub gave fans a deeply personal way to connect with Team Diverge, discovering each member through interactive exploration rather than passive content consumption.
  • Competitive Innovation: The rotating map mechanic in Red vs. Blue pushed the boundaries of what a competitive Fortnite mode can be, a genuinely fresh design that extended the lifespan of the experience and extended the lifespan of the experience well beyond a standard arena map.
  • Distinct Creative Worlds: Each of the three experiences has its own visual identity and design logic. Players aren't visiting the same map three times; they're exploring three different worlds that happen to share a brand, giving the ecosystem far greater depth and longevity.
  • Community Building: Multiple game modes created different entry points for different types of fans. Casual explorers, competitive players, and bedwars enthusiasts all had a dedicated reason to show up and stay.
  • Live Events Platform: Organised tournaments and events turned the Fortnite worlds into a recurring community gathering point, giving Team Diverge a programmable platform for ongoing activations.
  • Cross-Audience Reach: By building inside Fortnite, Team Diverge extended their brand to Fortnite's massive global player base, reaching gaming audiences who may never have followed Smith-Schuster through traditional sports or social media channels.
