Overview
Command Line partnered with Bryce Xavier, artist, creator, and LGBTQIA+ advocate, to build a Fortnite experience tied directly to the launch of his EP, "It's Been a Good Game." The project merged Bryce's music with Hunger Games-style competitive gameplay, creating a world where fans could experience his songs not just by listening, but by living inside them.
Every map, every soundscape, and every design choice was built around the themes and emotional arc of the EP, turning a music release into an interactive destination that gave fans a completely new way to connect with Bryce's work and with each other.

The Challenge
Music releases live or die by the attention they can capture in an increasingly crowded market. For an independent artist like Bryce Xavier, someone whose following is built on authentic connection and cultural relevance, a standard promotional campaign wasn't going to be enough.
The goal was to create something that felt as personal and intentional as the music itself. A campaign that gave Bryce's existing fanbase something genuinely exciting while opening doors to entirely new audiences through Fortnite's global platform.

The Experience
- EP-Integrated World Design: The Fortnite experience was built to reflect the thematic and emotional content of "It's Been a Good Game," with custom environments, visual storytelling, and soundscapes that translated the EP's world into interactive form. This wasn't a map with music playing in the background; it was a world designed around the music.
- Hunger Games-Style Gameplay: The core game mode placed players in a competitive, high-stakes Hunger Games format, a tense, survival-focused experience where every match told its own story. The format aligned naturally with the EP's themes of perseverance, identity, and fighting to be seen.
- Audio-Gameplay Synchronization: Command Line's team developed technical solutions to synchronize in-game audio with interactive gameplay elements, so that the music and mechanics worked together as a unified experience rather than feeling layered on top of each other. The integration was seamless: the game responded to the music, and the music responded to the game.
- Multiple Custom Maps: The build included multiple custom-built Fortnite maps, each reflecting different aspects of the EP, giving players varied environments to explore and compete in, and giving the overall experience depth and replayability.

Campaign & Community
- Influencer & Streaming Activation: The launch strategy combined targeted social media campaigns, collaborations with gaming influencers, and exclusive streaming events hosted by Bryce Xavier himself. Early community feedback was strongly positive, with players engaging enthusiastically with the integration of music and competitive gameplay.
- Event-Driven Engagement: Engagement metrics showed a significant uptick in participation during event windows announced by Bryce, demonstrating the power of creator-led promotion when paired with an experience that genuinely rewards showing up.
- Platform for Advocacy: The experience gave Bryce an additional platform to share his journey of coming out as pansexual and to build a supportive, inclusive community among his followers. The Fortnite world became not just a place to play, but a space where Bryce's community could show up authentically as themselves.

Impact
- EP Visibility: The Fortnite experience dramatically increased visibility for "It's Been a Good Game" by giving the release a unique, interactive marketing hook that generated genuine media and community attention.
- Fanbase Deepening: Fans who engaged with the experience developed a deeper connection to the EP, having played inside the music rather than simply listened to it, the emotional stakes of the album became personal.
- Advocacy Platform: The project showed how a gaming experience can be a meaningful space for identity, community, and self-expression, with Bryce using the platform to amplify LGBTQIA+ visibility in a gaming context.
- New Audience Discovery: Fortnite's massive, diverse player base introduced Bryce's music and message to fans who may never have found him through traditional music channels.
