Star Wars Assets Go Live in UEFN

On March 19, 2026, Epic released licensed Star Wars development tools inside UEFN. This is the first major third-party IP toolkit available to Fortnite creators, made possible by Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic.

What's in the toolkit

Three gameplay templates ship out of the box: a lightsaber and Force powers combat mode, a large-scale Team Conquest battle on Tatooine, and a narrative/roleplaying template set in a cantina.

Environments include Tatooine, Hoth, and Nevarro. Characters: Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, The Mandalorian, Princess Leia, and Jawas. Vehicles: N-1 Starfighters, X-Wings, TIE Fighters, AAT tanks, and rideable Tauntauns. Over 25 weapons from lightsabers to blasters. Licensed music and Niagara-powered VFX for space dogfights and hyperspace transitions.

The business model

Creators must share 20% of engagement-based revenue with Disney. In-island transactions are not supported for Star Wars content, so revenue comes exclusively through the engagement payout pool.

Publishing with Discover placement opens May 1, 2026. Star Wars islands are eligible for Epic's Picks.

The trade-offs

Licensed IP in UEFN changes the kind of work brands can ask for. A brand activation set in a Star Wars environment hits different from a custom-built island. But the 20% Disney cut and the restriction on in-island transactions are real constraints. Worth understanding both sides before scoping a project around it.
