Fortnite Returns to Google Play After 6 Years

On March 19, 2026, Fortnite returned to the Google Play Store globally, ending a six-year absence. The settlement with Google lowered the in-app payment cut from 30% to between 10-20%.

Android users get the full experience with a one-tap install: Battle Royale, Fortnite OG, LEGO Fortnite, Festival, and every creator-made world. No more sideloading, no more Epic Games app workaround.

Rollout

The global rollout is phased. "Easier installation" (meaning full Play Store integration without extra steps) lands in the EEA, UK, and US by June 30. Australia by September 30. Korea and Japan by December 31, 2026. Everywhere else by September 2027.

Combined with the iOS return in May 2025, Fortnite is now accessible on every major mobile platform in the US for the first time since 2020.

For UEFN studios

More mobile players means more people who can actually play your islands. A brand activation that works on console, PC, and mobile from the same build is a stronger pitch than one that only covers two of three. That's been a real limitation for years, and it's gone now.

Fortnite's monthly active players are at roughly 110 million as of early 2026, the highest sustained number since 2018.
